I created this for the 2014 ISSA (scratchboardsociety.org) Exhibition, where I'm honored to say it won an "Award of Excellence". It also received an "Award of Excellence" in the 2015 California State Fair's fine art exhibit.

This is a 5" x 7" drawing on Ampersand Scratchbord. Most of this is just scratching and re-inking with a pen (then re-scratching/re-inking as needed to build the values). The table top is the only place I used ink wash.

Those are Cathy Sheeter's hands grabbing the burritos. The finger & thumb at the bottom left belong to Lorna Hannett. The reference is a photo taken by Harold Farley at a restaurant in Vancouver BC, July 2013.

The artist's statement that accompanied the drawing in the State Fair Exhibit: ""Cathy's Burrito Bouquet" represents a moment shared with colleagues. Scratchboard artists are few and far between, so we truly revel in our annual Society gatherings. The drawing is a departure from my typical subjects, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable piece to create; it holds a special place in my heart. The photographer and the two artists whose hands appear in the drawing are Master scratchboard artists that I'm proud to call friends."
