They were looking for someone to do a few simple drawings of dogs for a publication and they had a short turnaround time. I support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chako.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chako<\/a> and their advocacy efforts on behalf of pit bulls, so I contacted them to find out what they needed.<\/p>\n<p>They liked my idea of simple line drawings and sent descriptions of what they wanted and some reference photos. Along with some of my own photos and those of a friend who volunteers at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.placerspca.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Placer SPCA<\/a>, I had what I needed to create this series of drawings illustrating &#8220;Dog-to-Dog Introductions&#8221; for <a href=\"https:\/\/chako.org\/dgintros.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chako&#8217;s publication<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"a challenge stance\" src=\"https:\/\/www.annran.com\/pages\/images\/dogs\/chako\/challenge.jpg\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"a fearful posture\" src=\"https:\/\/www.annran.com\/pages\/images\/dogs\/chako\/frightened.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"the wrong way to introduce two new dogs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.annran.com\/pages\/images\/dogs\/chako\/greetingbad.jpg\" width=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"the right way to introduce two new dogs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.annran.com\/pages\/images\/dogs\/chako\/greetinggood.jpg\" width=\"430\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"play bow posture\" src=\"https:\/\/www.annran.com\/pages\/images\/dogs\/chako\/playbow.jpg\" width=\"496\" height=\"366\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These are all hand-drawn with a black Micron pen on paper. I scanned the drawings, cleaned up the digital files and e-mailed them to Chako. There were a couple of minor changes to two of the drawings.
